Impact is an EGA Arkanoid clone. There are not many improvements made over the classic Arkanoid formula. One change is that instead of dropping powerups, the blocks drop coin-like items, that can be saved up to buy increasingly better powerups. (If you've played the Gradius or Life Force shooting games, it's a similar system.) Overall a pretty generic ball & paddle game. (Note! Use DOSBox and/or MoSlo, available on the essential utilities page or this game will run too fast. Tip: At the DOSBox prompt type "cycles ###" (where ### is a number) to change the speed, smaller=slower. I use "cycles 200" to play the game on a reasonable speed on my PC.)
